All in all, there is more than meets the eye for Steubenville. It has had so much history within it, that anyone who isn't a resident, would have no clue. From being the birth place of Dean Martin, to once being a mobster city, to being a productive industrial city, and to once being a fort to keep people from migrating into the western US, Steubenville has had one heck of a run! The research conducted, has help me develop my hypothesis as to what happened to Steubenville, to cause it to diminish as a city. Once the industrial companies left, jobs were lost. Those people who could not find work, either went homeless, went on welfare, or moved somewhere else. As the newer generations started becoming adults, they did not want to work long hours along with the physical demand. They wanted to live a clean cut life, with twice as much income; hence why they started going to colleges and universities to get a higher education. This left less people for the service jobs. With the younger generation leaving Steubenville, because of no job opportunities, and going to the city, the older generation is left staying in Steubenville-- ending the long line of generation residents.
