Basic information
Steubenville, Ohio, is a city within the county of Jefferson County. It is located along the Ohio River. It is 30-45 minutes west of Pittsburgh, PA and 2 hours east of Columbus, OH.
The points of interest there are Fort Steuben, Franciscan University of Steubenville, and Eastern Gateway Community College. Above is a current picture of Steubenville, from across the river. . . not taken by me, though. I have chosen to research on Steubenville, Ohio, because I am a little bias. I have been visiting Steubenville for the passed 3 years and have loved walking the streets and imagining what it would be like if I were in Steubenville 10 years ago, 20, 30, even 60 years ago. Whenever anyone hears of Steubenville, Ohio, many people have only hear of it through what was depicted four years ago, in the summer of 2012, with Big Red football team and the rape case. I want people to know about the real Steubenville and its history, not the negative incident that two boys caused and the media circulated, added more negativity to a city that was once a booming steel producing and coal mining spot.
